During the memorial service, Christina mentioned various ways in which Mead's talents grew during his life. One of his abilities was to bring diverse groups together to participate in a collaborative effort to create plans they could support and participate in. This started in Yosemite when he encouraged climbers themselves to become involved with trash and other impacts from big wall climbs. The following is a short excerpt from a Forest Service report illustrating how Mead brought various groups together to protect the Maguire’s Primrose in Logan Canyon: Proceedings: National Workshop on Recreation Research and Management re Mead Hargis.pdf
An article from the November 1976, Yosemite Natural History Association journal about a trans-Sierra trip lead by Bob Roney, and supported by Mead and Tina.
